Fairfield’s Emerging Startup Scene: Tech and Innovation Drive Growth in 2025

Fairfield, California, is quietly becoming a startup hotspot, offering entrepreneurs a prime location, lower costs, and growing business support. Once known mainly for its military base, agriculture, and logistics centers, Fairfield is now home to a rising wave of tech and innovation-driven businesses. With the Bay Area becoming unaffordable for many startups, Fairfield presents a cost-effective alternative with a business-friendly environment and city hall, plus new economic incentives.

Why Startups Are Choosing Fairfield

Fairfield sits at the gateway between the Bay Area and Sacramento, making it ideal for businesses needing access to major markets without the sky-high rent. It’s just 7 minutes from Vacaville, 12 minutes from Vallejo, and 25 minutes from Berkeley

Startups also benefit from local support systems like:

  • Solano Business Incubator – Offering flexible office space, free consulting, and networking opportunities. A great launchpad for startups needing affordable workspace and mentorship.
  • Innovation Institute, Inc. – Focused on creativity and technology-driven ventures, providing hands-on collaboration and guidance.
  • Solano-Napa Small Business Development Center (SBDC) – Helping entrepreneurs with business advising, funding access, and training programs.

Government and Financial Support for Entrepreneurs

In 2025 Fairfield’s city government and Washington, DC are actively pushing business-friendly initiativesAmerican Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) grants, gives startups $4,000 in financial support upon completing a business training program.

On top of that, Fairfield offers:

  • Tax incentives for businesses creating jobs.
  • Workforce training programs in partnership with local colleges.
  • Fast-track permitting for businesses setting up in commercial districts.

For startups in tech, clean energy, and biotech manufacturing, Fairfield offers the space and resources needed to grow—without the competition and cost pressures of Silicon Valley.

The City’s Push for Business Growth

Fairfield is also working on revitalizing West Texas Street, the main gateway into the city, improving infrastructure, walkability, and business opportunities. This corridor is set to attract more foot traffic and economic activity, making it a prime area for new businesses.

For those looking for commercial space, shared offices, or business incubators, Fairfield Spaces at 1652 West Texas Street is a convenient and affordable option. More details can be found at www.FairfieldSpaces.com

Solano Napa Market Comparisons

Solano County and Napa County are both located in Northern San Francisco Bay Area. They are next door, have friendly business environments and active local government.  But they have some differences in their residential and commercial real estate markets.

Friendly Solano County is generally considered to be more affordable than Napa County. The median home price in Solano County is maybe $500,000, while the median home price in Napa County is over $800,000. Solano County has a mix of urban and rural areas, including the cities of Vallejo and Fairfield, and is home to vibrant Travis Air Force Base TAFB. Many people are moving into more affordable housing and Solano County. They're coming in from San Francisco and also Contra Costa Alameda and other counties.

Napa County is known for its world-renowned vineyards and wineries, and the county's real estate market reflects this. Fairfield in Solano also has a growing viticulture including dining and more in Gordon Valley.

Napa County has a strong luxury market, with many high-end properties and estates. The county has seen significant price appreciation in recent years, driven in part by demand from buyers looking for vacation homes or investment properties.

Overall, both Solano County and Napa County have diverse real estate markets with unique characteristics. Solano County offers more affordable options and a mix of urban and rural areas, while Napa County has a strong luxury market and is known for its vineyards and wineries.

Commercial spaces for lease are more affordable in Fairfield, and they are right by highways 80 and 680.  Napa is further out says landlord to 100+ new and existing small businesses California Business Center with furnished spaces for lease by the month or longer.

It may soon be a good time to buy residential and commercial real estate properties in Solano or Napa counties.

Solano-Napa Habitat For Humanity Space - News In Vacaville

New Affordable Housing

Vacaville City Council may approve a disposition, development and loan agreement with Solano-Napa Habitat for Humanity. Cheap housing on city property at Scroggins Court and East Monte Vista Avenue is the possibility. Some people don’t want it at that location. Some voters say they work hard to pay taxes and why would they be supporting people in Vacaville who may not be working as many hours a week as they do. But everyone does not have equal opportunity say those seeking tax dollars for cheaper housing. That debate continues for ever.

As currently proposed, there would be nine parcels featuring 14 rental space. The lucky buyers may purchase the real estate home investments below 80% of the Vacaville area median income.

Fairfield Illegal Pot Growers Fined Under $1M. Not Profitable Business To Grow Pot In Fairfield?

Solano County’s Fairfield police department slammed $790,000 to marijuana growing facilities in just one weekend.

Each illegal Fairfield cannabis grow may not have expected they would get thrown under the bus.  Fairfield police department  explained pot growers, are bad “immediate risks to public health and safety and to the natural environment.”

Further, Fairfield police said “Unlawful cannabis cultivation…. incentivize unlawful activity at cannabis cultivation sites for as long as possible pending harvest,”

Medical studies show pain reduction benefits.  But they are showing negative impacts on those addicted to pot, despite misleading or shady ads saying otherwise. “Cannabis cultivation also creates increased nuisance impacts to neighboring properties because of the hazardous wastes and solvents used in illegal cultivation while comprising the health and safety of nearby residents.”  It’s unfair that Solano County tax payers must pay to help those needing medical attention. So huge fines help keep the government anti pot crusade in the black?

Strange Situation With The Daily Desk

Seems They Won't Rent More Than A Month At A Time! Ask if their entire floor is on the market for rent. And what happens to the monthly leases signed before the floor gets rented to one or more bigger outfits? The Daily Desk even boasts a conference room with the exact same name as the Fairfield City Mayor, Harry T. Price. The Daily Desk will tell you it's another person. But then The Daily Desk really boasts their political connections while touting the Harry T. Price conference room name. Let readers decide what's ethical. They get lots of needed support from elected officials and their contacts including: Fairfield-Suisun Chamber of Commerce, Fairfield Economic Development Office at City Hall 1000 Webster Street, and the Small Business Development Center - they do offer free classes by the way.

Competitors Keep Trailing Steve Kays Then Failing.

Like A Statue Kays Keeps Standing

So many companies have tried to compete against Steve Kays with his 80 Fairfield office spaces for rent at the California Business Center office building near highway 80. Kays bought it in Jan 21, 2000. Fairfield Co-Working ™ has most of what people want from cowering spaces, and without some of the bells and whistles at the newer entrant. Some need the fancy stuff and can hopefully make the other place's electronics work. Kays said most entrepreneurs are on a budget, need their basic needs met, and want to be with more businesses for networking at Fairfield Co-Working. Kays suggests people can work from home and save from paying rent. Perhaps come into one of the two locations for meetings. Fairfield non profits can ask for free meeting rooms.
